Ulster and Ireland rugby star Iain Henderson has renewed his partnership with SMW Belfast as a local brand ambassador for Volvo Cars.  And his Ulster and Ireland team-mate Stuart Olding has also joined the SMW Volvo team as an ambassador.

The 2013 Ulster Rugby Young Player of the Year, talented forward Henderson (22) has already built a formidable reputation, recently winning the 2014 Six Nations Championship with Ireland. He can operate at lock or in the back row.
Skilful back Stuart Olding, whose season has been hampered by a knee injury, was capped by Ireland last summer and is widely recognised as one to watch out for next season.

Away from the rugby pitch, Iain and Stuart are in the driving seat of the latest model within the Volvo range, the V40. On visiting SMW’s Boucher Road showroom, both players said they were thrilled to be involved with the Volvo brand. Iain said: “I am delighted and honoured to be renewing my role as a brand ambassador for Volvo. The brand imparts a number of key features that mirror those of a professional sportsman. These include the need to perform well whilst having a desire to be the best. This is highly evident in the exciting design of the new V40.”

The V40 hatchback boasts a powerful yet sleek style with its strong shoulder lines and low wide front stance. The General Sales Manager with SMW, Brian Gribben, believes the new designs and technology used in today’s Volvo range are attracting a new type of driver. He said: “We are thrilled to be working with such talented young sports professionals as Iain and Stuart. The Volvo brand is dynamically very different to its former stereotype. The new designs and world leading innovations are attracting younger drivers who know what they want from their cars.”

The V40’s flexible, Swedish ergonomic interior is ample for the frame of an elite rugby professional. The award-winning model also benefits from impressive innovations such as the world-first pedestrian airbag system.
And it has a ‘City-Safety’ auto-brake detection system which will help protect the rugby stars from other careless road users, which is reassuring for their employers and supporters alike.

Iain, who has admitted to having a passion for music, is already a keen fan of the impressive in-car technology in the V40 with its wireless music streaming system. He explained: ‘Within the Ulster squad music plays a key role in post and pre match routines and having played a regular role in the Irish squad I have been able to relax on the road listening to an old favourite, Bruce Springsteen, much to the amusement of my team-mates.”

Stuart said: “I am delighted to be associated with Volvo in a brand ambassador role. “The new V40 is perfect for the younger driver. It’s smart, stylish and fuel efficient. Ultimately, as a professional sportsman, safety is imperative and the V40 provides a peace of mind when on the road with its stability and traction control.”
