Ballykelly man makes it nine NHBC awards
One of Northern Ireland’s most experienced site managers collected his ninth major National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job award at a glittering ceremony at The Culloden Hotel on Friday night.
For John Logue, 56, a Site Manager with Taggart Homes it was the third time he’d picked up the prestigious Seal of Excellence award – this time for his work at Plantation View in Limavady.
He had qualified for the Seal of Excellence competition as one of 25 Pride in the Jobs Award winners across Small, Medium and Large builder categories.
John’s staggering list of nine NHBC awards illustrates a keen eye for excellence and quality, two cornerstones of Taggart Homes’ approach to creating beautiful, luxury homes for families across the North West of the Province.
The Ballykelly man, who began his working life as a bricklayer, assumed his first supervisory role in the mid-80s when he was in his late 20s.
Now as Site Manager for Taggart Homes, now working on a new development at Oak Country Manor on the Crescent Link in Derry, John is mentoring a new fleet of industry juniors to acquire the same demands for excellence that has marked his career to date.
John’s win was secured within the house building authority’s Northern Ireland and Isle of Man region, through which he has also won two Seals of Excellence regional awards.
The project manager began working for Taggart Homes in 2003 but when the recession hit the building firm, like so many across the UK and global industry, he had to find employment elsewhere.
As the economic downturn began to reverse and Taggart sought to gain a new foothold, John returned to find a place within its ranks.
He is driven to pursue excellence out of a sheer love and satisfaction he gleans from his role.
“My name is on the award but it’s all down to the team and it motives me and them as a result and the work they do and they high standards they strive for really makes my life a lot easier.”
Taggart Homes’ Strategic Advisor, Michael Taggart said he was delighted to learn of John’s latest accolade.
“The quality, care and attention and precision John brings to and instill in the teams he works with daily reaffirms and echoes the quality which Taggart Homes aims to deliver in each and every one of our developments,” he said.
“We are delighted to have someone of John’s calibre within our ranks, who is there as a shining example of a very elite approach to his work.”
