Tyrone Company’s Building Information Modelling expertise underlined once again

Leading offsite Construction Company, The McAvoy Group, had their expertise in the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) acknowledged by a nomination in the Irish BIM Innovation awards which took place last Thursday 10th November in Dublin.

The Tyrone headquartered company was nominated within the Construction category for its work at Sythwood School, Woking.

David Clark and Hadeel Saadoon from McAvoy were amongst hundreds of representatives from the Irish construction industry who attended the glittering awards’ ceremony. Earlier they had presented an outline of their shortlisted project to a panel of distinguished judges.

The Construction Category celebrated the overall contribution that digital tools can make to their successful delivery of a construction or engineering project.  The highly competitive category drew submissions from contractors, project management consultants, surveyors and manufacturers / suppliers.

“The judges were looking for the quality of the end product, in particular the use of data rich production information and object modelling, whilst ensuring the efficient delivery of the project on time, within budget and in line with the quality standards demanded by end users.  We consider nomination in this category itself to be a huge honour and came away with some very valuable feedback from the judges,” David Clark said after the awards.

“BIM plays a major role in identifying efficiencies and maximising productivity within the construction sector.  It is also becoming increasingly important in the management of complex communications and information sharing processes within building projects.

“BIM is front and centre for McAvoy as we seek to stay ahead of the curve within the modular construction sector on a UK and Ireland level. To add this prestigious nomination to our becoming the first offsite construction firm in the UK to acquire BRE BIM Level 2 certification in April of this year – ahead of the Government’s deadline –   is a strong indication of our credentials in this area.

“BIM proved a valuable tool in helping stick to the tight construction programme, and to also allow the different disciplines to collaborate together- a vital element to the project.”

“The McAvoy Group’s BIM journey is driven by a vision to be market leaders in digital construction in the offsite industry. With extensive research, academic input, and industrial development, The McAvoy Group will continue to advance their BIM approaches, skills and expertise to deliver better and more efficient designs.”
