Arthur Cox – Belfast

Arthur Cox – Belfast

BACKGROUND

Arthur Cox is an award winning corporate law firm that has built on a rich history and culture of excellence to become one of Ireland’s leading legal practices. The firm provides a comprehensive legal solutions service to an expansive client base throughout the UK, Ireland and  North America..

BRIEF

Assist the firm to generate a corporate profile consistent with its market-leading position in Northern Ireland.

WHAT WE DID

SERIOUS worked with the firm’s partners to create a comprehensive communication programme capable of reinforcing the Arthur Cox’s unique brand and differentiating it in a crowded marketplace.

We identified and negotiated a series of thought-leadership articles within key media including those servicing areas of potential growth for the practice and the general daily business press.  These articles provided partners within the firm with the opportunity to comment on topics and areas of interest to the local business community ranging from items on commercial property leases to employment law.  We consulted on the content and placement of advertising and appropriate publications.

We also assisted with the production of a series of department-specific newsletters and delivered major events including a highly successful Graduates Evening held in the firm’s Belfast offices. Anecdotal feedback after this event showed that the firm had been successful in attracting the cream of young talent as a result of this exercise.

As part of our corporate profile building programme we identified and negotiated sponsorship of the Institute of Directors’ annual lunch which included top table representation for the firm’s Belfast Managing Partner who was also afforded an opportunity to address hundreds of local business leaders.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Our year-long communications’ programme laid the foundations for Arthur Cox to move from being comparatively unknown in Northern Ireland to become recognised as amongst the top law firms here.

SPR used a variety of communications tactics to counteract negative, ill informed and, at times, blatently libellous allegations concerning the company’s ongoing mining activities in West Tyrone.  Individual and group presentations were made to a large number of public representatives in the area, including MPs, MLAs, local councillors and the local media.

The company was satisfied that SPR had succeeded in presenting their case to public officials in a fair, balanced and effective manner.

Mercury Security

Mercury Security

Brief

To raise the profile of this family owned private security company in advance of the introduction of new SIA (Security Industry Authority) legislation coming into force in Northern Ireland.

Response

The SPR team briefed a select group of journalists prior to the organisation of a photocall and the choreographed publication of a series of press releases.  Whilst the need to secure headline coverage for our client was our primary concern, we also needed to be acutely aware of the various agendas of Mercury’s clients and of government agencies, who were also involved in the promotion of the new legislation.

Results

Significant coverage was secured across a variety of publications, helping to position the company MD, Frank Cullen, as a thought leader within his industry.  News features appeared in The Irish News and The News Letter, in various industry publications such as Neighbourhood Retailer (the NI retail trade is massively affected by the new legislation), and by security industry websites and magazines across GB and Ireland, such as www.secureview.ie and www.prosecurityzone.com
