Creative colouring wins Ellie a framed photo for her and big sister Katie

A visit to The Pheasant Restaurant in Annahilt resulted in an unexpected surprise for NSPCC’s Policy and Public Affairs Manager Colin Reid and his daughter Ellie when she won a stunning framed portrait of her and big sister Katie courtesy of Venture New Generation Portraits.

Colin was due to attend a work related event at the Pheasant and had to take along nine year-old Ellie at short notice when his wife Miranda was unable to be with her at their home in Hillsborough. In addition to the unexpected chance to tuck in to a sumptuous meal, Ellie, a pupil at Downshire Primary School,  kept herself amused by entering a colouring competition being run by Venture in which children were encouraged to draw pictures of their family while sitting at their restaurant table.

Ellie emerged as the overall competition winner and as a result won a Venture photographic experience at the company’s Lisburn studio.  She chose to take along her 16 year-old sister Katie, (a member of Lisburn City Swimming Club who recently secured a place in the Irish 2012 Olympics swimming squad) and the two girls were duly photographed by Venture’s photographer Michael Nethercott.

Colin and Miranda were so pleased and  impressed with Venture’s prize (a studio session and framed portrait worth £600) that they even upgraded their prize with an extra spend of £100 to get an even more fabulous framed picture.

“We’re really pleased with our Venture portrait,” said Colin. “It looks fantastic hanging in the hall of our home and has been admired by everyone who visits.”
