More than £1,300 raised as part of drive to hit £5,000 charity target
Staff from Acheson & Glover (AG) have raised more than £1,300 by donning pink to help raise awareness of Breast Cancer.
From directors to despatch, manufacturing to marketing AG personnel across its locations at Dungannon, Fivemiletown, Toome, Ballygawley, Magherafelt, Derry, Carryduff and even GB got involved to raise awareness of Breast Cancer as part of Cancer Focus NI’s Think Pink! series of events throughout October.
AG which employs around 400 people, teamed up with Cancer Focus earlier this year in a bid to raise £5,000 over the course of 12 months for the local charity.
Lauren Elliott, AG’s Head of Group Marketing is confident the initial target of £5,000 will be reached.
“The buzz around our various locations has been fantastic since we started our partnership with Cancer Focus. Already we have had teams pulling trucks and now we’ve had widespread participation in the Think Pink! event that has really captured the imagination of all our staff – including our chief executive, Raymond Acheson, who wore a pink wig for the day.
“Cancer is a real blight on society and we’re delighted to be able to get involved with Cancer Focus both to raise awareness on this occasion specifically of breast cancer but also to raise funds that can be used to help find a cure for this awful disease that impacts so many. Whilst we thought £5,000 might be a stretch initially the support has been so good I’m confident we will finish up well above that target.”
AG manufacturers and sells a wide range of innovative concrete products including paving, flags and walling as well as structural precast items to the commercial and homeowner sectors throughout the UK and Ireland.
Owned by local man, Raymond Acheson, AG has been in business for more than 50 years.
